# How to add a Multiple choice question

Multiple choice lets people pick several options. You write the options on the
question.

1. ADD IT

In Build, click Add a question, then choose Multiple choice. See How to add
questions [https://formms.help.center/article/1016-how-to-add-questions].

2. ON THE FORM

The question is on the canvas with starter options. Question settings opens so
you can write the prompt, rename options, and add more.

3. WHAT IT IS FOR

People tick one or more checkboxes. Typical uses: topics, extras, or anything
where more than one answer is fine.

4. EDIT AND REQUIRE

Click the field to change the wording. Hover it to duplicate or delete. Required
questions show a red asterisk. Optional ones do not.

Use Single choice or Dropdown if they must pick only one.

5. ASK AI

In create a form with AI
[https://formms.help.center/article/1013-how-to-create-a-form-with-ai], describe
the form and name this type. On a form you already have, open Chat to Edit (the
pencil next to Add a question) and ask in a sentence.

Example:

> Add a multiple choice question for dietary needs: None, Vegetarian, Vegan,
> Gluten-free, Allergies.

6. READ THE DRAFT

The helper replies with a Draft card. Each field shows its type. Check that
Multiple choice is in the list. Click Create this form when you want it. Close
if you were only trying a prompt. That does not add a form.
