# How to use Weighted Average Calculator

Enter each value and its weight. You get the weighted mean, plus a simple
average so you can see what the weights changed. Weights do not need to sum to
100.

The tool is at form.ms/tools/weighted-average-calculator
[https://form.ms/tools/weighted-average-calculator].

1. OPEN THE CALCULATOR

Go to the Weighted Average Calculator
[https://form.ms/tools/weighted-average-calculator]. Weighted average is the sum
of (value times weight) divided by the sum of the weights.

2. ADD ROWS

Type a Value and Weight on each row. Weights can be percents, credits, dollars,
or counts. Click Add row if you need more. If every weight is equal, the result
matches a simple average.

3. COMPARE THE TWO MEANS

The page shows the weighted average next to the unweighted mean. For one class
from assignment percentages, letter, and GPA points, use the Class Grade
Calculator
[https://formms.help.center/article/1032-how-to-use-class-grade-calculator].

Nothing is stored. For a course gradebook, prefer the class grade tool.
